Payment gateways in Egypt: the real cost of all five
Choosing the right payment gateway in Egypt can directly affect your conversion rate, transaction costs and customer experience. In this guide, Digitology compares the leading payment gateways in Egypt including Paymob, Fawry, Kashier, Geidea and PayTabs…
Egypt doesn’t pay the way you think
Before comparing gateways, look at how Egyptians actually pay. If your checkout is card-first, you built for a quarter of the market.
Ranges shown because sources disagree — one 2026 estimate puts COD at 55% (down from 65% two years ago), another at 60–70%. Direction matters more than decimals: cash is falling, wallets are climbing fastest.
What you’ll actually pay
The flat EGP 3 fee is where small baskets bleed. Move the sliders to see your real blended rate.

Published rates only. Wallet, BNPL and international rails price separately.
Where your money actually goes
Four hops, each with its own batch cycle. This is why refunds take 14 days, not 3.
Authorisation takes seconds. Money movement takes days. Merchants who confuse the two promise customers “3–5 days” and then field angry messages on day nine.
The five, scored
Bars reflect published capability, not opinion. Where a provider doesn’t disclose, we’ve said so rather than guessed.
Cairo-based, live in Egypt, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Pakistan. One customer pays with Meeza, the next with Vodafone Cash, the next splits an EGP 15,000 sofa on ValU, the next pays cash at a Masary kiosk. All four, one dashboard.
Not really a card gateway — a national collection network with a gateway attached. 225,000+ collection points, roughly 12 million transactions a month, average ticket around EGP 500. Customer gets a reference code valid 30 days, pays cash at any kiosk or pharmacy.
Publishes fees, refund timelines and compliance level without a sales call. PCI DSS Service Provider Level 1 — the top tier. Ten basis points above Paymob buys you a number you can read on a webpage.
Riyadh-based, one of the region’s largest POS networks. The real edge: first non-bank to integrate directly with Meeza Digital, the CBE-designated national wallet network. Customer enters their Meeza number, gets a request-to-pay push, approves. That’s a conversion rail for the exact demographic Cashless Egypt is creating.
Nine MENA markets: Egypt, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, Jordan, Palestine. 165+ currencies. SDKs down to Unity — a short list of providers who natively support a Cairo game studio monetising in the Gulf.

Questions your customers ask
Every one of these is a live search query. Answering them on-site does double duty: conversion and organic visibility.
What we’d actually do
Integrate Kashier for cards, because the price is public and the plugins work. Add Fawry as your cash rail inside sixty days. Measure your real payment mix for a quarter. Then take that data to Paymob or Geidea and negotiate a rate that reflects your actual volume instead of a list price.
That sequence costs one extra integration and saves you from the two mistakes we see most: picking on a headline rate that doesn’t apply to your basket size, and launching card-only in a market where most people still pay cash.

This comparison uses publicly available information at the time of writing. Rates change, features ship, and some providers don’t publish pricing at all — so some of this will drift out of date.
If you work at Paymob, Fawry, Kashier, Geidea, PayTabs or any provider mentioned here and something is inaccurate, outdated or missing, tell us and we’ll correct it. Send the correction with a public source or an official statement we can cite, and we’ll review it within five working days. Corrections are published with an updated date stamp — we don’t quietly edit.
Disclosure. Digitology has or has had a commercial relationship with one or more providers named on this page. No provider paid for placement, reviewed this article before publication, or influenced the scoring. Where a provider doesn’t publish pricing, we’ve recorded that as undisclosed rather than estimating a figure.
